Procrastinating travel planning? You’re not the only one…

Morgan Navas | March 24, 2024

Lately, I’ve struggled to find that motivation to hit the road or fly the skies. It is so easy to talk about the trips I want to take someday and the places I would like to see. For some reason, it all feels so far into the future. Sure, I’m talking about it now, but will I actually plan the trip? Unlikely.

Personally, my challenge has a lot to do with fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of being unprepared, fear of change. All of these, I think apply to the scenario of travel. For me, there were two main things I talked about doing before my summer work season starts. Those are seeing the aurora borealis and car camping on a solo road trip. As time ticks by I find myself continuing to talk about these things, but never seriously putting any research into what it would take to make them happen.

BAM. Spring break hits and you start to see all these awesome pictures of everyone else traveling. That might be when it hit you, that you were supposed to do one of those really epic things too, but you were left in the dust. Or maybe, work got busy, school got hard, the social life got busy. Whatever the scenario, it felt easier to use those as an excuse, rather than your own procrastination.

We’ve all been there. Well, I don’t know if everyone has, but I know have. Multiple times.

Yet, I sit here well past midnight trying to pinpoint exactly what it is that stops me from forging an adventure. My very own form of procrastinating making plans I suppose.

I’m thinking, at some point, I have to just full send it. As folks say, I’m not getting any younger. Besides, how am I supposed to achieve badass grandma status when I’m older if I don’t start creating memories to share?

So if you’re struggling to put the planning into action, know you aren’t alone. I’m right here with you. But kindly get your ass up and at least start looking at a trip that piques your interest.
